Doctor Who: Every NuWho Companion Ranked From Worst To Best

6. Clara Oswald

Doctor Who Clara Hell Bent
BBC

Clara's run with The Doctor was somewhat mixed. The 'Impossible Girl' plot thread simply wasn't interesting enough to sustain what they wanted to do with it, but Jenna Coleman's performance as Clara was solid, right from the off.

Her first appearance as Oswin instantly endeared her to audiences, especially as it was common knowledge at that stage that she would be joining the show full-time (which made her death a rather big surprise!). Her second appearance also featured a death - a bit of a worrying trend for this would-be companion.

However, once she joined the show in the form that she would remain as, she quickly settled into her stride. While her time with The Eleventh Doctor never quite felt right (we were still reeling from the loss of the Ponds) her relationship with The Twelfth Doctor felt like a home run.

Her final fate remains an intriguing one as she is still out there, zooming around in a diner, more than capable of meeting The Doctor again.
