Doctor Who: Every NuWho Companion Ranked From Worst To Best

21. The Doctor (Jackson Lake)

Doctor Who The Next Doctor
BBC Studios

The 2008 Christmas special 'The Next Doctor' was something of a knowing wink to the audience, as it was (by then) common knowledge that David Tennant was due to exit the TARDIS. David Morrissey's guest spot was a fun adventure, while teasing us all.

His absolute certainty in his identity drew us in, then the small inconsistencies started to get us asking questions. But the stand out moment of the episode was the depiction of his TARDIS - Tethered Aerial Release Developed In Style. Absolutely brilliant!

While he may not have had any lasting impact on The Doctor, he did manage to convince him to stay for Christmas dinner. It might not be much, but it is something!
