Doctor Who: Every NuWho Companion Ranked From Worst To Best

20. Craig Owens

Doctor Who The Lodger James Corden Craig Owens
BBC Studios

For a time, James Corden was EVERYWHERE, and you know what? That's fine. He was great as The Doctor's roommate!

Craig took over (for an episode) from Amy Pond as The Doctor's main companion, while The Doctor investigated the strange signals from the flat above theirs. The two developed a fast friendship, even if it took Craig a while to come to terms with his new friend's excentricities.

Having said that, the two episodes in which he appears - The Lodger and Closing Time - are among the best in Matt Smith's run as The Doctor, thanks in large part to the chemistry that the two have together on screen. While we may not see Craig - or Stormageddon, Dark Lord Of All - again in the future, his time was brief and memorable regardless.
