Doctor Who: Every NuWho Companion Ranked

9. Clara Oswald

Donna Noble Doctor Who
BBC

This one might be a bit controversial, but Clara is not a good companion. During her first season with Matt Smith she was fine, she was fun (if a bit bland), and she had an interesting mystery. But then they solved said mystery, and she stuck around. The biggest problem with Clara was that they kept making her more and more special, she also had no defining character traits other than she's basically just the Doctor, until it all accumulated into her effectively becoming immortal and getting her own TARDIS with Me.

Some of the things that make Clara so special include, being there for the Doctor's entire life (including telling him to take the TARDIS that they still have today), undoing the Doctor's most important day, becoming the Doctor's imaginary friend, instilling them with some of the Doctor's defining traits, and and causing the Doctor to shoot someone point blank just to try and save her life!

One major issue I have with Clara comes down to one moment, and that moment is when she told the Doctor to let a bunch of children burn and die so that they wouldn't become orphans. She said this to the Doctor, an orphan, in front of her boyfriend, another orphan. Good.
