Doctor Who: Every NuWho Cyberman Story Ranked Worst To Best

7. Ascension Of The Cybermen/The Timeless Children

For some, the Series 12 finale is among the worst Doctor Who has to offer. And while it certainly has a MASSIVE problem, it's not all bad.

Part One (Ascension Of the Cybermen) finds the Thirteenth Doctor and co. trying to keep the last of humanity safe from a relentless Cyber army lead by the terrifying Lone Cyberman. Overall it's an action-packed spectacle, that sets the scene nicely for an epic concluding chapter.

Part Two (The Timeless Children) dropped the ball. Big time. The utterly dreadful twist surrounding the origin of the Time Lords and The Doctor being the Timeless Child is, to put it mildly, apocalyptically awful. It's a poorly written, terribly executed, fan-enraging mess. Even the most arduous of Chris Chibnall defenders (if there are any) can't save the current showrunner from this disaster.

OK rant over.

It's a shame that all that anyone will remember about this two-parter is the twist, because the rest of it, the parts that actually contain the Cybermen, are decent. The action sequences are fun, the scarier scenes are chilling and we even get a good comedy moment with Bradley Walsh in a Cyberman suit.

The Lone Cyberman also returns to solidify his status as the best villain that Chibnall has created (although that's not saying much). Although he is quickly and woefully killed off by The Master, he was a delight for the short time he was on our screens. The same can't be said for the Cyber Time Lord things that appeared ay the end though.
