The Sandmen represent a combination of Ripley 8's abominable offspring from Alien Resurrection wearing a ghost face mask (mainly the elongated mouth bit). Frightening though that look is, it's their booming, eerie and guttural growls in the darkness of the space station that represents the stuff of nightmares.
The Sandmen are created from the sleep dust in our eyes via Gagan Rassmussen's (Reece Shearsmith) Morpheus pods, which condenses all the benefits of the recommended 7 to 9 hours sleep into a quick five-minute nap. It sounds too good to be true.
