Doctor Who: EVERY NuWho Villain And Monster Ranked Worst To Best

29. Mrs Gillyflower & Mr Sweet

Doctor Who villains
BBC

Appear in: The Crimson Horror.

Only in Doctor Who could you have Diana Rigg being fed nectar in her chest from a creature which resembles a crawfish. Mr Sweet was very much the silent partner - and a mere sideshow - in his symbiotic relationship with Winifred Gillyflower, who's played with fizzing insanity by Rigg. In fact, they could've done away with the disgusting parasitic leech as Gillyflower was a "prize-winning chemist and mechanical engineer" in her own right.

Hey, if Dr Jekyll can create a personality-altering potion around the Victorian period, it's not too much of a stretch to believe that in 1893 Mrs Gillyflower herself brewed a deadly venom to wipe out humanity, and a diluted version to preserve and protect only the brightest and best for her future master race.

Mrs Gillyflower's evil knew no bounds: she experimented on her daughter Ava (played by Rigg's real-life daughter, the equally brilliant Rachael Stirling) that ultimately caused her to go blind, for which her mother showed no remorse.

The name's Colbourn, James - yeah, doesn't quite have the same ring to it.
