Oh how the mighty fall.
It was only fitting that Davros should return with his Dalek children (he did grow them from his body, after all) for the most blockbuster of Who finales in Series 4. It was all going so wickedly well for Davros too. He had the Doctor imprisoned, constantly goading him, and revelled in the concatenation of cataclysms wrought by the New Dalek Empire: stealing 27 planets, subjugating Earth, and having a breathtakingly terrifying weapon to make the Infinity Gauntlet look like a mere sidearm in comparison (albeit a very powerful sidearm):
"People and planets and stars will become dust, and the dust will become atoms, and the atoms will become... nothing. And the wavelength will continue, breaking through the Rift at the heart of the Medusa Cascade into every dimension, every parallel, every single corner of creation! This is my ultimate victory, Doctor! The destruction... of reality itself!"
But instead of going out in a blaze of dignified glory (thank you DoctorDonna and Dalek Caan), we next see Davros back on Skaro at death's door (seems being on the cusp of obliterating all of reality takes its toll on you). Once again he tries and fails to outsmart the Doctor and ends up literally falling foul of his children. Oh, how the mighty fall.
