Doctor Who: Every Tenth Doctor Episode Ranked From Worst To Best

26. The Sontaran Stratagem/The Poison Sky

Doctor Who The End of Time
BBC Studios

The Sontarans are so inherently silly that it's difficult to play them straight, but for the most part, The Sontaran Stratagem/The Poison Sky managed it.

Those scenes of them mercilessly (and easily) gunning down UNIT soldiers make them feel like a genuine threat, even if the laughable group dancing does neuter that threat slightly. Those bulky and colourful Sontaran suits don't quite hold up today either.

Elsewhere, it was great to see Freema Agyeman return as Martha Jones, as well as the involvement of UNIT, with the Doctor's anti-violence stance leading to many entertaining clashes with Earth's trigger-happy defenders. There are also tons of memorable moments, from Donna defeating a Sontaran with a mallet, to the Doctor quipping "Are you my mummy?"

Oh, and any story that features Wilf is automatically made better just by him being there.
