Doctor Who: Every Tenth Doctor Episode Ranked From Worst To Best

15. Partners In Crime

Doctor Who The End of Time
BBC Studios

Partners in Crime is Doctor Who at its best - a buddy cop movie with its odd coupling of the Doctor and Donna, with an unusual alien plot weaved into the mix.

Doctor Who aliens are usually big and scary, but this episode took a different, riskier approach that ultimately paid off. The idea of cute walking fat is completely ridiculous, but the episode sticks to its guns with that heightened comedy tone and so it never once feels out of place.

This is one of the funniest Tenth Doctor episodes too, from the Doctor and Donna consistently missing each other, first meeting, to poor Wilf completely missing a spaceship that's passing over behind him.

Partners in Crime epitomizes Russell T Davies' willingness to take bold risks with his writing, and his skill in pulling them off. It's the best series opener he wrote, setting the bar for an incredibly high-quality series of Doctor Who.
