Doctor Who Flux: 8 Bold Predictions For The Rest Of Series 13

7. The Doctor Is Bel And Vinder's Timeless Child

Venturing into more "tin foil hat" territory now, but there are two ways to look at the unborn child plotline that Chibnall introduced at the end of Once, Upon Time.

Firstly, it could simply be a way to make people more emotionally invested in the child's parents, Bel and Vinder. That may be a cheap trick, but us viewers will root for them even more if we know they have a baby on the way.

Alternatively - and the far more tantalising option - is that the child is someone significant. So what if it's the Doctor?

With time being all messed up and the Doctor constantly meeting people in the wrong order, it wouldn't be a stretch for her to meet her original, biological parents - i.e. the parents of the Timeless Child. Plus, the main theme of this series is that time is all messed up, so getting to see the origin of the Timeless Child would be fitting.

The biggest clue here though is that Bel says "I wonder if he looks different" in reference to Vinder, which could indicate that he's capable of regenerating. Vinder was also familiar with the TARDIS, possibly another hint that he's more connected to the Doctor than we realise.

The fact of the matter is, we've no idea what species Bel and Vinder are, and we've no idea where they're from. The purple sky on their homeworld (seen at the end of Once, Upon Time), could even be a visual nod to the purple sky that Tecteun found the Timeless Child under, and while this would be a somewhat bizarre twist, there's enough evidence here to not make the idea sound totally crazy!

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
