Heading into Chibnall and Whittaker's final few episodes, the biggest question on everyone's lips is how on earth they're going to wrap up the Timeless Child storyline.

Whether we get them at the end of Series 13, or during next year's centenary special, answers are coming - it's just a case of what they will be. Many fans are hoping for some sort of retcon that preserves the Doctor's traditional backstory, and if what we're about to discuss rings true, that's exactly what they'll get.

As well as being divisive, the Timeless Child also introduced a myriad of continuity issues and plot holes, but one way to avoid these would be to say that the Ruth Doctor and the Thirteenth Doctor are actually from separate timelines.

Basically, the Timeless Child thing still happened, but sometime after that, the Division - instead of mind-wiping the Doctor, as we've been led to believe - split the Doctor's timeline in two. One of those timelines is the normal Doctor Who timeline we've been following for almost 60 years, and the other is the Ruth timeline.

Then, when Thirteen met Ruth in Fugitive Of The Judoon, these two timelines collided spectacularly, which is what caused the Flux.

Sure, this does sound unlikely, and it isn't free of its own complications. But it's a clean-ish way to incorporate the Timeless Child with traditional Doctor Who canon. Huge shoutout to Reddit user SilasWould, who originated this theory a few days ago.
