Doctor Who: Legend Of The Sea Devils Trailer Breakdown - 13 Things You Must See

11. TARDIS On The Seabed

Remember the Eleventh Doctor episode Cold War, when the TARDIS relocated because it was surrounded by water?

That was the Hostile Action Displacement System (HADS for short) doing its thing, but in Legend of the Sea Devils, it appears as though that system is no longer operational.

This stunning shot of the TARDIS resting at the bottom of the seabed is proof of that, which is followed by another shot later in the trailer where the Doctor opens its doors, making it crystal clear that HADS is no more. Poor HADS.

This feels like it could be the opening scene of the episode - maybe the Doctor takes Yaz and Dan to the bottom of the ocean to soak in the view, only for them to be interrupted by pirates/Sea Devils/a big scaly monster?

Regardless of the context, there's something so wondrous about seeing the TARDIS in an unusual place like this, so full marks to director Haolu Wang here.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
