Don't worry, Karen Gillan hasn't gone off the rails since leaving Doctor Who, as much as the picture above would suggest otherwise. It's actually an image taken from the ABC sitcom Selfie which Karen helmed (that's right - she got her own sitcom!) as Eliza Dooley before it was axed - hashtag the heartache - halfway through its first season. You win some, you lose some. Not that it matters, really, because Karen's glistening résumé has been forever growing since Amy Pond got zapped back in time by that rogue Weeping Angel at the end of The Angels Take Manhattan. She started off by making her film debut (in a Scottish romcom called Not Another Happy Ending) before starring in the psychological horror Oculus in which her character is possessed by a haunted mirror and randomly eats a lightbulb. No... seriously. Her most prominent post-Who role to date, though, has been as the malevolent Marvel mercenary Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy for which she shocked us all by shaving off her hair... and becoming bright blue. Because why stick to one formidable fantasy franchise when you can have two? She's also dabbled behind the camera as she's helmed her own short movie and she's just finished filming a Western called In a Valley of Violence alongside John Travolta (let's hope he got her name right!), Ethan Hawke and former Torchwood alumni Burn Gorman. The future looks very bright for the girl who waited, but what about Rory the Roman?
