Doctor Who: Osgood And Zygons To Return In Series 9

Fan favourite is back from the dead.

It has been announced that Osgood will be returning to Doctor Who... and she's bringing the Zygons back with her! The popular character - who has been a fan favourite since her first appearance in The Day of the Doctor - was dramatically killed by Missy during the Series 8 finale but it was confirmed today that "anything can happen" as Ingrid Oliver will be reprising the role for Episodes 7 and 8 of the upcoming ninth series. And that's not all! The UNIT scientist will also be accompanied by the Zygons who cloned her in the 50th anniversary special, which suggests that the Doctor might not be able to trust his biggest fan this time. Ingrid Oliver commented:
"As every actor who's worked on Doctor Who will tell you, there's aways the secret hope you'll get the call asking you to come back. To actually receive that call is both unexpected and brilliant. The word 'honour' gets banded about a lot, but it really is, it's an honour. Especially because I was so sure Osgood was a gonner after the last series!"
The two-parter, written by Peter Harness and directed by Daniel Nettheim, is currently being filmed in Cardiff and will also guest star Jemma Redgrave as Kate Stewart. Are you excited to see Osgood and the Zygons again? What do you think their respective comebacks will entail? Share your thoughts and theories in the comments section below!
