Doctor Who: Ranking The Doctor's Sonic Screwdrivers Worst To Best

3. The Eleventh And Twelfth Doctors' Sonic Screwdriver

Used by both the Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors, this frequently used sonic screwdriver was even telepathic - allowing the Doctor to point and think - as well as being voice-activated.

It was also more functional than many of its predecessors, able to perform medical scans, boost signals, amplify vocals and unlock doors - as long as they weren't made of wood.

This sonic matched the aesthetic of the Eleventh Doctor's first TARDIS with its green emitter matching his time rotor, and its copper casing matched the panelling surrounding it. It was also extendable and featured a display inside to view readings on. Completing this design were retractable claws which seemed more style over function, but very good for swishing about.

Replaced more than any of the other screwdrivers, this version was repeatedly lost, destroyed or given away by both of its users. Reasons for this include: eaten by a shark, taken by the doppelganger Doctor, or actor Matt Smith dropping it.

Most memorably, this sonic was given to a young Davros when the Twelfth Doctor abandoned him on Skaro. Davros then kept the sonic screwdriver over the years, until he remembered what it was. By that point, it was heavily damaged and the Doctor instead replaced it with a pair of sonic sunglasses.

Probably not one of his best ideas.
