Doctor Who Regenerations: Ranked From Worst To Best

11. The War Doctor To The Ninth Doctor

While the 50th Anniversary special gave fans so many wonderful moments over which to, ahem, 'squee', there were a few moments which could've gone just a step further in order to give fans the ultimate experience. Admittedly, The Day of the Doctor was a wonderful story and showcased some truly stellar performances with enough fan-service to keep even the most ardent of fanboys happy and, while it was like Christmas come early, it's difficult not to feel cheated by the War Doctor's regeneration. If this had been omitted and left to the imagination, fans would probably have thought no more of it, however it's inclusion meant that for a brief moment on 23rd November 2013, thousands and thousands of viewers thought - if only for a split second - that Christopher Eccleston had actually shot a scene for the special and was going to appear at any moment after all. Suffice to say, when the scene cuts away shortly after the Ninth Doctor's eyes appear, hopes were certainly dashed. Damn. A cool moment, definitely, but just a little bit disappointing in hindsight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDYSiERa50s

Christie D. Inman-Hall hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
