Doctor Who Regenerations: Ranked From Worst To Best

10. The Second Doctor To The Third Doctor

Perhaps one of the most trippy regenerations seen on screen, the Second Doctor's final bow came at the hands of the Time Lords. Standing trial for his meddling in time, the Second Doctor is forced to regenerate and begin exile on Earth. During the course of the trial, fans see the Doctor being offered several new faces to choose from - none of which particularly please him. After the Doctor bemoans his options, the Time Lords make the choice for him. What happens next is a bizarre visual feast of Patrick Troughton's head being multiplied, spinning round, and gurning as the screen eventually fades to black. Simply one of the most alienating regenerations due to the lack of actual transition, this is perhaps one of the weirdest exits taken by a lead actor in Doctor Who. That said, Troughton's performance leading up to his regeneration is brilliant to say the least. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjIZPl3ABXo

Christie D. Inman-Hall hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
