Doctor Who Review: In The Forest Of The Night - 10 Ways The Story Grew

It’s time to follow the Doctor into the woods and see where this path will lead us.

WARNING! SPOILERS: This post contains spoilers and speculation for the Doctor Who series eight episode €œIn The Forest Of The Night€. Once upon a time we lived in fear and wonder of the wild things hidden within the trees. They were close to us then, a threat that nipped at our bare and well-worn heels. We€™ve forgotten what it€™s like to be untamed. We use therapy and drugs and rules to control any impulse to break free from the confines of conformity. We silence the voices we don€™t want to hear, clinically and ruthlessly. What are the choices when a lost child taps at the door? We can turn them away, ignore them or heed their concerns. The Doctor does all three when he encounters young Maebh at the opening of €œIn the Forest of the Night€. When he ultimately decides to listen that changes everything. It€™s time to follow the Doctor into the woods and see where this path will lead us.
