Gluttony is taking more than you need. The Daleks want everything and they want it in a very specific way. They are not satisfied with having or even controlling life. They went the end of all things until only the Daleks remain. They are trapped in a mire of self-righteousness, so sure of their position they cannot see beyond their own eyestalks. That narrow-minded focus gives them a sort of power but it is also their weakness. When they lose it is due to their inability to think outside the tank.

War itself is a kind of gluttony. It’s an endless feast of blood and tears. Creatures as hollow as Davros and the Daleks feed on it but they can never be filled. They don’t even know what they are seeking anymore; they’re just going through the motions. The Doctor on the other hand is a man who resists becoming drunk on his own power. He is aware of the danger in mistaking want for need and he chooses companions that question him when he steps too close to the line.
