7. Hermione Norris
BBCWhat is Doctor Who if nothing but the ultimate combination of both drama and comedy? Fitting then, that appearing in the Eighth series of Britain's best loved dramedy is Hermione Norris, well known to TV audiences for starring in not just well loved comedy Cold Feet, but also suspenseful drama Spooks. In terms of what to expect from her Doctor Who appearance however, the fact that the BBC reported her particular episode was written by Wallander's Peter Harness would tend to suggest that Norris will be using her edge of your seat tension acting muscles. Whatever the tone of the episode though, the announcement also came with a teaser from Steven Moffat, who not only said that the crew would be filming in Lanzarote, but also that "The Doctor is returning to the scene of an old adventure - but there have been sinister changes since his last visit."
