Michelle Gomez’s female incarnation of the Master, known simply as Missy, has been a recurring part of the Peter Capaldi era, and her performance has been well received by fans and critics, so its no surprise that she’s back to stir up more trouble.

Missy will be appearing in Steven Moffat’s Episode 6. The plot details for this story have been kept firmly under wraps, but the last time we saw the Doctor’s nemesis, she was trapped in a collapsing Dalek city, so we’ll hopefully get an explanation as to how she escaped. And hopefully it’ll be a better explanation than the last time she reappeared after being definitely, undoubtedly dead. And the time before that. Ah, who am I kidding – the Master surviving certain death is one of Doctor Who’s oldest traditions.

Of course, this may not be the last we see of Missy, as cameras have yet to begin rolling on either Series 10’s finale or the 2017 Christmas special, and Moffat will no doubt want to bring back some of the more famous villains for those stories.
