Doctor Who Series 12: 3 Ups & 3 Downs From The Timeless Children

Forget everything you know about Doctor Who.

The Timeless Children Doctor Who
BBC

This is it. Series 12 of Doctor Who is complete. We now know a ton about the Timeless Child, the history of Gallifrey, the origin of the Time Lords, and more. Yet, we now know almost nothing at the same time. 'The Timeless Children' raised just as many questions as it answered, which isn't something we'll get to, in at least this article.

Today, we're looking at what made Jodie Whittaker's second finale great, and what made it no so great. It looks to be that 'The Timeless Children' has truly split the Who fan base straight down the middle. For now, let's remain impartial, and see just what Chris Chibnall has done to this staple of Sci-Fi television.

As always, we start with the negatives.

3. Disconnected Cyber Saviours

Yaz Cyberman Doctor Who
BBC

In a hairbrained scheme to escape the Cyber-carrier destined for Gallifrey, Graham suggests the remaining quartet don Cyberman armour in order to sneak off the ship undetected. Meanwhile, the Lone Cyberman has dispatched three groups of six Cybermen to deal with Ryan, Ethan, and Ko Sharmus on the planet below. The last we see of our quartet prior to the scene in question for this down, is when they're still aboard the ship, with the Lone Cyberman checking their casings for the loose humans.

The next thing we know, Ethan has been taken hostage by the Cybermen, only for our quartet to arrive, take out the real Cybermen, and save his life. However, we had no transitional glimpse between them on the ship, and them arriving on the planet. A notification noise coming from the suits once the Lone Cyberman was away, indicating the teleportation systems were back online would have sufficed, but instead we had yet another jarring cut which could have been remedied by something I'm assuming was left on the cutting room floor.

Also, since our grounded trio were being attacked by Cybermen, and our on-board quartet donned Cyberman armour, we saw this save coming a mile off.
