Doctor Who Series 12: 3 Ups & 3 Downs From The Timeless Children

2. The Convenient Death Particle Solution

Similar to episode 7, 'Can You Hear Me?', our seemingly unbeatable foe are, ironically, beaten due to circumstances handed to our protagonists on an aptly silver platter. The myth surrounding the legend of the Lone Cyberman was that of a 'Death Particle,' an object capable of destroying all organic life on the planet it is activated on. Even though this object was indeed in the Lone Cyberman's chest since he was first properly seen in 'The Haunting of Villa Diodati,' it was only ever mentioned and seen in 'The Timeless Children,' two episodes later.

This 'Death Particle,' not useful to The Master's grand scheme, is left miniaturised in the Lone Cyberman, ready for The Doctor to weaponise herself, and use to undo his plot. Ko Sharmus ends up using the Death Particle instead of The Doctor, but the same easy means of defeating the foe applies. Still, it's not exactly an easy feat to kill off the Time Lords again, but for the seemingly un-defeatable foe, they were killed off pretty easily.
