Doctor Who Series 12: 3 Ups & 3 Downs From The Timeless Children
1. The Timeless Child Twist
Ever since the words 'Timeless Child' were muttered by straggling strips of material in series 11's 'The Ghost Monument', fans have been asking everything that moves what they thought they were on about. Come 'Spyfall Part 2', and The Master re-dropping those words, we knew we were finally in for some answers by the series' end. Low and behold, we were.
The Timeless Child was a youngling with the ability to regenerate, found by an ancient Gallifreyan, Tecteun. She experimented on the child, eventually managing to splice a gene enabling her to regenerate herself. This gene was passed down to a select population in the citadel, and the Time Lords were born. But what came of the Timeless Child? Well, it turns out they became The Doctor.
This revelation, in reality, could've been seen from a mile off. It's also the most obvious choice for the identity of the Timeless Child, as why let any other character gain the mystique of such a game-changing origin? It's not changed much about modern Who lore really (something we'll get to), but it felt as if this title could've gone to The Master, or someone else instead, to make it all a tad less predictable.
