Doctor Who Series 12: 3 Ups & 3 Downs From The Timeless Children

1. Who Lore Has Been Drastically Altered (But Nothing Has Been Broken)

Everything changes. The BBC wouldn't shut up about it across social media across the latter half of the series airing. Low and behold, they were right. An unexplored (and actually unnecessary) part of the Doctor's origin has been unearthed. There were indeed, multiple incarnations of the Time Lord prior to William Hartnell. How many you ask? We still don't know. Though many fans, bitter about the treatment of their beloved IP under the eye of Chris Chibnall, are quick to angrily dismiss this revelation as some idiotic fan-fiction, the harsh reality of the situation is that Chibnall has actually added to the lore of Doctor Who without breaking too many plot points in the process.

None of the show that we've come to know and love since 1963 has been undone, or made redundant in the grand scheme of things because of this revelation. As far as we know, this version of the Timeless Child, known as 'The Doctor,' began life as a grumpy old man hiding his knackered time ship in a junkyard on Totter's lane. That hasn't changed. Nor has the Time War, nor have the events of the 'Day of the Doctor', everything remains in-tact- at least for now.

Love him, or hate him, Chris Chibnall's mark on the show has been left with an almost out of character amount of care. This is, at the end of the day, an individual who cares deeply for the show, even if his track record of scripts haven't been all that stellar. All we can do now is wait for what's to come at some point between Christmas and the new year.
