Doctor Who Series 12: Everything We Know So Far

2. The Cybermen And The Judoon Are Both Returning

Doctor Who Season 12
BBC

About a month after The Mirror's report, a Doctor Who fan spotted a group of actors filming a scene at Nash Point in Wales, who were all dressed in some instantly-recognisable silver attire.

Based on the tents in that wide picture, it looks like this episode will take place hundreds of years in the past, which should make for an interesting contrast between the technology of the Cybermen, and the woefully underdeveloped (in terms of firepower) humans around at the time.

The Cybermen aren't the only classic baddies making a comeback, either: the Judoon will be joining them. While the former villain was "confirmed" by these unofficial set photos, the latter was confirmed by the BBC itself, who also stated that their starring episode will be set in present-day Gloucester. How exotic.

The rhino-like humanoids were first seen in 2007's Smith and Jones, where they battled David Tennant's Tenth Doctor, and his companion, Martha Jones. They've also popped up here and there since, including in the Series 5 finale The Pandorica Opens.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
