Doctor Who Series 13: 8 Leaked Details We Already Know

6. The Weeping Angels Are Returning...

With Series 11, Chibnall decided to stay away from familiar Doctor Who elements - such as returning villains and supporting characters - almost entirely.

Then, the following year, he decided to do a massive 180 on that stance when he realised that it was a bad idea, and as a result, Series 12 was stuffed with familiar sights like the Judoon, Captain Jack, the Time Lords, Gallifrey, and the Master.

Going forward, it looks like Chibnall will continue to embrace Doctor Who's incredible history by bringing back some classic monsters, and if a recent set picture is any indication, we know what one of those monsters will be.

Another photo snapped by an onlooker who was close to the set, the two images embedded in the tweet below show the Weeping Angels being filmed on another ordinary Welsh street, complete with a spooky nighttime setting.

While it's highly likely that this shoot is for Series 13, some fans think that it might be for the upcoming mobile/Switch game Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins, which also features the Angels. But that game is due out early next year, so you have to assume that it's in the can already - unless these are reshoots/marketing materials?

That's definitely a possibility. But if these Angels are for Doctor Who, then it feels like a good time to bring them back - the last time they got a full episode to themselves was The Angels Take Manhattan way back in 2012, so they've had a long enough holiday!

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
