Doctor Who Series 13 Starts Filming: 10 Early Predictions For What We'll See

3. A Captain Jack Harkness Story

Though it was great to see him return, the inclusion of John Barrowman's Captain Jack Harkness in Series 12 was a bit... weird. He had a cameo in the fifth episode, but because he's such a famous and popular character, everyone assumed that he'd return later on, perhaps during the finale. But he didn't.

It was quite cruel of Chibnall to tease fans with the promise of more Captain Jack, only to not deliver on that promise. On the plus side though - and let's be optimistic here - Jack is surely going to return in Series 13... right?

There's just no way that Chibnall would bring him back for one or two minutes of screen time, and while it's possible that Jack is in Revolution Of The Daleks, we also hope to see him in Series 13, too.

It would be unrealistic to expect him to be a permanent companion of the Doctor's (although that would be awesome), so instead, we're going to predict that Jack shows up for a single story - something big, like the finale or the premiere.

Jack's previous Doctor Who stories have mostly been the huge, important ones (Series 1 finale, Series 3 finale, Series 4 finale, etc), so maybe Chibnall will stick to that pattern.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
