A firm fan-favourite from Series 2 is The Girl in the Fireplace, where the Doctor becomes a regular presence in Madame de Pompadour's life via a time-travelling mantlepiece.
Naturally, the Madame falls for the Time Lord, which Rose is completely fine with… ahem.
Actress Sophia Myles was roundly praised for her performance, and since flirting with the universe’s most eligible bachelor (who she actually dated in real life after making the episode together), was cast in the Hollywood action movie Outlander, and Michael Bay’s explode-a-thon Transformers: Age of Extinction.
On the small screen, Myles is most famous for her recurring role in Bad Wolf's A Discovery of Witches, as the witch Rebecca Bishop. This gig saw her cross paths with another Tenth Doctor love interest – River Song herself, Alex Kingston.
She continues to work in television, and recently appeared in A Very British Scandal in 2021, the followup to Russell T Davies' miniseries A Very English Scandal.
