2. Self-Contained Episodes
Ok, everyone loves a good two-parter with that cliff-hanger pause to make a week last a lifetime. Remember the agony of David Tennants Doctor regenerating as credits rolled on The Stolen Earth in series four? Or Matt Smiths Doctor being locked in the Pandorica in the penultimate episode of series five? However, we already know that there will be no such two-part episodes in the new series which will be something of a refreshing change from the numerous double-headers that have been coming thick and fast since the 2005 revamp of the series. According to Steven Moffat himself that means tighter plotting, more action packed episodes and a less intricate story arc for casual viewers to follow. It might not be everyones cup of tea, but it will be interesting to see how it pans out by the time the series ends in 2013.
