7. Missy's True Purpose

The mysterious Missy cut a jagged path straight through series 8, like a raging lightning bolt of chaos and craziness. Then there was the huge reveal - Missy=Mistress=The Master - and before you knew it she was creating an army of Cybermen, and then appeared to be zapped into oblivion. Of course, nothing is ever so simple on Doctor Who, and Michelle Gomez has long since confirmed that she'll be back to unleash more insanity on her BFF in series 9. So what exactly will she be up to? One ploy to destroy the planet has been foiled, but given the character it's entirely possible that she'll back attempting mass destruction once again. However, Gomez has said that there's a different dynamic between her, The Doctor, and Clara this year, which perhaps points to a less villainous side being shown. Prevalent theories suggest that she will play a big part in The Doctor's search for Gallifrey, after giving him the wrong co-ordinates last year, which is set to be more of an arc this time around, so it'd make sense to have another Time Lord or Lady involved in that plot. Another possibility is that there'll be far more revealed about just how she came to be involved with him and Clara in the first place, because that was a pretty big reveal, and there is likely more to come about just why she chose Clara.
