Doctor Who Series 9: Who Are The Hybrids And What Does It All Mean?

2. The (Eighth) Doctor, The Time Lord - Human Hybrid

Ah yes, the line that put Doctor Who fans into a rage and has been glossed over ever since; the idea of the Doctor as half Human, half Time Lord. Everyone assumes that the reference to this hybrid nature by the Eighth Doctor in the TV Movie was an unfortunate element of the attempt to make a quasi American reboot, so much so that there was a question for so long as to whether Paul McGann's Doctor was canon. Fortunately his triumphant return in Night Of The Doctor cemented his standing once and for all as one of the Doctor's incarnations.

It is likely that the Doctor referring to himself as half human will never be mentioned again, discarded as the ramblings of a post-regeneration Time Lord. But if there was ever a chance to use it, this would be it. Fans have been clamouring for more appearances by Paul McGann; why not resolve that plot point as the culmination of the hybrid story line?

Of course at this point, is there anyone who isn't a hybrid?
