Doctor Who Series 9: Who Are The Hybrids And What Does It All Mean?

3. From The Cheetah People To The Master / Missy

Osgood Doctor Who

Talking of humans possessed by an alien presence to become hybrids, one of the most noticeable events took place in the final story of the classic Doctor Who era; Survival. The Seventh Doctor and Ace encountered the Cheetah People whose planet transformed captured humans into the feline alien hybrids. While both the Doctor and Ace sucumbed to the planet's influence, it was another pivotal character who found himself transformed into a hybrid of Time Lord and the Cheetah People; The Master.

In fact, the Master has been a hybrid in more ways than one over the course of the series, first taking over the body of poor Traken inhabitant Tremas to become the Anthony Ainley version of the Master from The Keeper Of Traken through to Survival. He need became part snake in the TV Movie, again possessing a human paramedic played woefully by Eric Roberts. If there is any of that alien influence in Missy, a resurrected form of the Master post-Time War remains to be seen, but it could hold significance in her inevitable return.

Is Missy a hybrid too? The friend inside the enemy, the enemy inside the friend, it may ring true for her too.
