Doctor Who: Survivors Of The Flux Review - 6 Ups & 6 Downs
3. UP - Jodie’s Acting
If there’s one good thing to have come from these intensely Doctor-focused stories, it’s that they’ve given Jodie Whittaker a chance to really act.
Thirteen feels defined in this series in way she hasn’t throughout the rest of her tenure, and she’s certainly got character traits of her own now. More than once, we’ve seen her temper come out this time around, and she seems a lot more jaded and world-weary than we’ve seen in the past.
This week was no exception, with Whittaker getting some strong moments during her conversation with Tecteun and her accompanying Ood whose loyalty is clearly very easily swayed. Jodie also ticked an item off her Doctor Who staple checklist as she finally had her first opportunity to play evil (though only in voiceover), as the Weeping Angels stole her voice during the opening sequence.
