Does the Doctor, on some level, already know who Clara is? They form a close and trusting relationship exceedingly quickly, especially on the Doctors part. The Doctor gives Clare a key to the TARDIS almost immediately in The Snowmen. He usually makes companions prove themselves a bit more before they gain that level of access. Clara, for her part, readily accepts the Doctor as an alien, with no signs of disbelief, when she questions him in The Bells of Saint John. We probably all have people in our lives that weve formed instant connections with, as if we already recognized them even though we know weve never met them before. Maybe we just dont remember them. The Doctor had trouble remembering the Great Intelligence in The Snowmen, even though he had dealt with it in previous incarnations. The universe is forgetting him. Is Clara some kind of reminder? The key to making his way back through his own memories and finding the core of his identity?
