5. Why Are The Seasons Referenced So Often?
The apartment complex in The Angels Take Manhattan (series 7a) was called Winter Quay (Quay is pronounced key). A vase in that same episode was titled Rapture of Summer. Doctor Simeon warned that winter is coming in The Snowmen. The book that Claras charge is reading in The Bells of Saint John is called Summer Falls. Intriguingly, that book was written by Amelia Williams, aka Amy Pond. If you look closely at the illustration on the cover it appears to be a representation of Amy, Rory and the Doctor as children. This could simply be a red herring, but the seasons have been referenced so many times in the last three episodes that it does make one wonder. The seasons indicate the passage of time. They are sometimes used in fairy tales to represent a persons voyage through life from the spring of childhood to the winter of our waning years. Might the seasons represent the Doctor's journey through this incarnation? Is his time coming to a close?
