Doctor Who: The Doctor's 13 Darkest Moments

10. A Time Lord's Fury

Episode: The Family Of Blood Two of the most well received Doctor Who episodes didn't even involve the Doctor, and instead featured David Tennant playing a human named John Smith. Conveniently, the transition back into the Doctor helps emphasizes and differentiate between what we know of the Time Lord, and the dark side he conceals. Having just thwarted The Family from trying to steal a "Time Lord's essence", the Tenth Doctor proceeds to hand out some of the most severe punishments fans have seen from the character. He wraps the father in unbreakable chains forged from a dwarf star, traps the daughter in every mirror in existence, and suspends the son in time and traps him in a scarecrow. The most twisted punishment goes to the mother, which involved him tricking her to be pushed into a collapsing galaxy. Perhaps he pretended to take her home? The look on the Doctor's face clinches everything here. This is a Doctor without remorse or a conscious, just one out for revenge.
