2. Senior Doctor

Doctor Who fans are familiar with the recent Matt Smith episode in which the issue of limited regenerations was conveniently solved with a helpful boost from the Time Lords - and jus in time for the arrival of Peter Capaldi, too. Everything's coming up Doctor! Waddling about at the top of a belltower in a town where you can't lie, the old Eleventh Doctor remained ever strong, thrusting his cane triumphantly in the eye of his certain immiment death. Even when Handles powered down for the final time, (most) fans kept their cool. But when Clara returned to find her beloved young Doctor old, it was hard to control the lip wobbles. He couldn't pull the cracker, for Pete's sake. How could anyone not cry? Even with his hearts failing, his legs aching and his mind wandering, the Doctor always remains the Doctor. He never gives up hope, so neither do the fans. And luckily for the Doctor, neither does Clara, as she calls to the Time Lords through the Crack to let them know how much he deserved their help. What would he - and us - do without his impossible girl? They could have sent Handles a bit of regeneration juice too, though. Just sayin'.
