Doctor Who: Village Of The Angels Review - 8 Ups & 4 Downs
3. DOWN - Plot Teasing
We’re four episodes into this six part series - is anyone else starting to worry that we’ve still got an awful lot to wrap up in less than two hours? It feels like we may be heading for another exposition dump of a finale, and that is not good news at all…
Finding out that the Angels we saw this episode were in fact an extraction squad for The Division certainly piqued our interest - it’s a cool concept, and we can buy into it. Unfortunately, despite our initial hopes that a much-needed light might be shone on some unanswered questions, we got yet another week of being promised answers before the rug was pulled from under us.
Now obviously, we don’t want all the answers at once, but to keep us viewers engaged, Chibs should be revealing at least something by now, drip feeding us some information instead of introducing more questions at every opportunity. The Rogue Angel was very interesting, but ultimately served very little purpose by choosing to side with the other Angels at the end of the episode. If this was the plan, why even include it? Why not have the other angels reveal their connection to the division, and their knowledge of The Doctor’s past instead? It seemed an odd narrative choice, to us at least.
