Doctor Who: Village Of The Angels Review - 8 Ups & 4 Downs

10. UP - Professor Jericho

Doctor Who Flux Village of the Angels
BBC

We had a feeling this would be an up before we even watched the episode. Kevin McNally, nutty professor, Weeping Angels - they were onto a winner.

Sure enough, McNally puts in a strong performance as Professor Eustacius Jericho, with an impressive level of depth given his screen-time. Jericho is one of those enjoyable characters who seems to understand The Doctor and find common ground in a refreshingly short amount of time, allowing the episode to explore him further without bogging itself down by having him resist The Doctor’s every move.

The time we get to spend with his character, exploring his commitment to knowledge and his courageous no-nonsense attitude, is thoroughly enjoyable. The man also had some genuinely funny lines throughout the episode. We hope to see more of him next week.

Alex is a sci-fi and fantasy swot, and is a writer for WhoCulture. He is incapable of watching TV without reciting trivia, and sometimes, when his heart is in the right place, and the stars are too, he’s worth listening to.
