Doctor Who: Village Of The Angels Review - 8 Ups & 4 Downs

8. DOWN - Gerald And Gene

Doctor Who Flux Village of the Angels
BBC

Now these two were a waste of space. Gerald is this week’s secondary antagonist, and he’s even worse than the normal standard of weak secondary villains. Put simply, he’s a copy-paste of that same template we’ve been seeing for years, much like General Logan from War of the Sontarans, except this time this blank canvas character is dressed up in a neglectful carer costume.

Gene is there too, we guess.

This codgery duo ignore every single bit of advice they’re given throughout the episode, disregarding all logic. They’re pretty unfazed and after finding a cliff at the literal edge of space, and they’re similarly not too bothered by the sudden impossible arrival of a statue, which leads to them being sent back in time. Remarkably, they SHRUG THIS OFF, and promptly decide that they’ll touch the Angel again, thus killing themselves.

Good riddance. We were even less bothered by this than Peggy was.
