Doctor Who: Why Peter Davison's Fifth Doctor Is Underated

Audio Adventures

74042 The Caves of Androzani, however, is not truly the end of the Fifth Doctor. He had returned for Time-Crash, a Children in Need special written by Steven Moffat in 2007, featuring the Tenth Doctor. But besides that, since 1999, Peter Davison has been recreating the life of the Fifth Doctor in audio adventures from Big Finish Productions. True, you can't physically see the adventure, but the dialogue between the Doctor, companions and enemies, and etc., are truly wonderful. The writers for Big Finish have definitely given more life to the Fifth Doctor, and within the past two or three years, we have seen the return of Janet Fielding as Tegan Jovanka, and Mark Strickson as Turlough. And all of them have given amazing performances. If anyone has any doubts about the onscreen episodes, recommendations of the Big Finish range is extremely high. There are Fifth Doctor adventures with just Nyssa, some with Tegan and Nyssa, and a few with Turlough. But most are with Tegan,Turlough and Nyssa. The chemistry between them all have been the same for thirty years. Suggestions include Sirens of Time, the first audio of the range featuring Fifth Doctor, Sixth Doctor and Seventh Doctor, Cobwebs featuring Tegan, Nyssa and Turlough, and part of the Lost Stories, The Elite, featuring Tegan and Nyssa with the Fifth Doctor. Of course these are just a few suggestions, there are many more that could be recommended as well.
