Emmys 2018: Who Should Win Every Award (And Who Actually Will)
21. Writing For A Drama Series
Nominees: The Americans - START (Joel Fields and Joe Weisberg); The Crown - Mystery Man (Peter Morgan); Game of Thrones - The Dragon and the Wolf (David Benioff and D. B. Weiss); The Handmaid's Tale - June (Bruce Miller); Killing Eve - Nice Face (Phoebe Waller-Bridge); Stranger Things - Chapter Nine: The Gate (Duffer Brothers)
Should Win: The Americans - START
The Americans has long been overlooked by the Emmys, and this represents its final chance to amend that. That includes its writing across the board, but its series finale is as good as any, bringing a six-season storyline to a satisfying, emotional, and surprising conclusion.
Will Win: The Americans - START
There are only four categories in which the Academy can recognise The Americans, and writing is the easiest of the bunch, as it's often where series can be awarded without being given the top prizes. It helps that it's also incredibly deserving, although The Handmaid's Tale is in with a good chance too.
