Unsurprisingly, Game of Thrones' final season received the most nominations across the board this year. While the quality of the writing was hotly contested (which I'll get to in more detail later), the production, design and performances were all as good as TV gets.

It's that last element which took the most focus though, as pretty much every cast member gave an Emmy-worthy performance this year. GoT has one of the best casts in TV history, and each one was given their time to shine, which is why it was no surprise when four members of the show ended up competing in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category.

Sophie Turner, Masie Williams, Lena Headey and Gwendoline Christie were all in the running, but lost out to one of the two non-GoT nominees, Julia Garner, who won for her turn in Ozark.
