Should you delete a deceased loved one from your phone after they die? That's the question Be Right Back asks, in a superbly literal way, as Martha (Hayley Atwell) forms an attachment to an A.I unit after her boyfriend Ash (Domhall Gleeson) tragically passes away.

No episode in the vast Black Mirror canon better tackles the theme of grief than season two's impeccable opening hour. Atwell and Gleeson both give enthrallingly melancholic performances as woman and machine, as they each try to come to terms with their new and unsure lives.

From the scene where Martha learns Ash has died to her realisation that android Ash will never be able to replace her late love, Be Right Back is a spotless tour de force that deserves to rank alongside TV's greatest episodes.

With Be Right Back, grief and acceptance has never been so moving or cathartic.
