Every Black Mirror Episode Ranked Worst To Best
16. White Bear
White Bear sets up a confusing and mysterious story and throws its audience deep into the thick of it with Lenora Crichlow's horrified protagonist. A visceral and tense hour of TV, it follows an amnesic woman who wakes up to a world where she's hunted by unknown assailants.
Sporting a twist that is equal parts unexpected and derivative of the much better Fifteen Million Merits, White Bear works blisteringly quick, and crafts out of its mystery a story that's as intense as it is unpredictable. Themes such as exploitation and technology addiction are aptly handled, and the whole thing ends up watching like a tightly-wound Hollywood thriller.
Sure, the final twist undoes much of the otherwise effective build-up and the episode's themes - with a reveal that changes the setting and resets the timeline instead of giving a satisfying end - but all told White Bear deserves props for its sheer entertainment value.
