2. 10,000 Ships

House of the Dragon
HBO

In season one of Game of Thrones, when the Stark children were given a Direwolf each, Arya named hers Nymeria, after the legendary warrior that lived centuries before her.

The Princess of the Rhoynar ruled in the land of Ny Sar, before taking a fleet of 10,000 ships (though this number is thought to be inflated by some maesters), to found the land of Dorne in the south of Westeros.

Telling this story will afford the showrunners the opportunity to craft Nymeria as another in the long list of incredible female warriors and fighters from Game of Thrones, that will already have grown thanks to the likes of Rhaenys and Rhaenyra in House of the Dragon, but fans will also be treated to a further exploration of Dorne itself.

Much of what fans saw of Dorne came as part of Jaime and Bronn's ill-advised trip south to rescue Myrcella, and based on what it could have been from the books, this was incredibly disappointing. This is the chance to right this particular wrong, and establish Dorne as what it truly is - a stunning landscape, and a power in Westeros equal to that of the North, the Vale, the Riverlands, or the Reach.
