Every HBO Series Of 2016 - Ranked Worst To Best
11. Ballers: Season Two
The Rock is not mortal like me or you. While we need to eat and sleep occasionally, The Rock is working out, shooting two movies back to back, writing a self-help book, donating blood and probably working on a cancer cure; he’s a hard worker basically.
So HBO should be thankful it nabbed him for Ballers, which is essentially the American football version of Entourage. Before you run for the hills thanks to that description, it’s actually not that bad. The Rock has the charm and charisma to power it, plus great chemistry with co-star Rob Corddry. Sadly none of the supporting players is terribly interesting, and Andy Garcia made for a lame villain during the second season. That and it's really hard to give a crap about anybody or their self-absorbed problems.
Ballers is low wattage TV; engaging enough to watch, but hardly compulsive viewing either.
