Every Inside No. 9 Episode Ranked From Worst To Best

5. A Quiet Night In

Inside No 9
BBC

Plot: Two robbers (Pemberton and Shearsmith) try to steal an artwork from a mansion. This episode is almost entirely free of dialogue.

The second-ever episode and the show's first masterpiece, this (mostly) silent comedy is a fresh, hilarious and mesmerising bit of television that you'll never forget.

It's a deft and visually stunning physical comedy handled with upmost skill that'll crack you up over and over again, but the episode's strengths go beyond the laughs. Thanks to its brilliant use of music and the tragic storyline involving several of the characters, this is also a dark, atmospheric and downright unsettling piece of television.

Like many of the greatest Inside No. 9 episodes, it blends light and dark with incredible skill and ensures you'll be laughing hysterically one minute and absolutely shocked the next.

In every sense, this is an absolutely captivating episode and while season premiere Sardines provided some hints, it was A Quiet Night In that truly announced Inside No. 9 as a force to be reckoned with
